There is only one tool that you MUST HAVE to be successful in
affiliate marketing:

To get started you only need an email account. If you want to
appear more professional, do not use a free account like Yahoo or
Hotmail.

If you have a website you can set up an email account with your
domain name.

NOTE: I have been using a Gmail account because my domain name accounts are flooded with spam. If you would like a free Gmail account, please send me an email with the subject line:
“Affiliate-Free Gmail”.

Although an email account is the only REQUIRED tool, there are
other tools that are NICE to have:

• Autoresponder – an autoresponder allows you to develop a list.

You can generate an opt-in form and then send pre-written emails to
those who sign up. There are several autoresponder services. I use and recommend aWeber. (www.aweber.asklindajo.com)

• Website – a website in your niche is nice way to capture
  visitor’s information using the form from your autoresponder account.You should provide lots of content to keep visitors coming back.

The hosting company I use and recommend is Gator.

an email account?!?!

What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is basically selling someone else’s product or
service for a commission. You are essentially a salesperson for
someone else.

Think about your last purchases. Where did you make your purchase?
Why did you buy it? Did anyone influence your decision to buy?

If I find a product I really like, what do I do? I tell my family
and friends. That is a natural thing to do! That is the essence
of affiliate marketing – telling family and friends about a great
deal.

Affiliate marketing is a win-win-win situation:
- WIN – The owner is making money and getting free traffic and
publicity.
- WIN – The affiliate marketer is making money selling something he
didn’t have to develop.
- WIN – The customer is happy because they have purchased
something that they wanted or needed.

Later in this series I am going to talk about the advantage of having
affiliates sell your product. I know you are thinking,, but I don’t
have a product!

I’m glad you are reading this because affiliate marketing is
growing. Recently one of my subscribers asked my opinion
on affiliate marketing. I LOVE affiliate marketing!
It is the second easiest way to make money on
the Internet. (The absolute easiest way is eBay.
That will be another series later.)

I have tried several different strategies over the past couple of
years. I have read numerous books on affiliate marketing and have
watched how successful affiliate marketers run their business.

It has been fun to successfully sell other peoples products and
services. I remember my first sale. I had been advertising a
conference and started dancing (for those of you who know me, I
don’t dance) around the house when I made my first sale. My kids
thought I was nuts! (They didn’t laugh when they saw the check!)
